Coming in 2017

Watch this space - Two exciting exhibitions will be announced soon. One in Europe opening in early June, and one here in Melbourne, opening early August.

"Penny Byrne - Brutal" was Penny's first solo show for 2017

9th February to 8th March 2017

Having spent the past several years making large scale collaborative works with Berengo Studios in Venice and Urban Art Projects in Shanghai, Penny has been back in the studio making new works in ceramics and plaster for her first solo show of 2017. Heavy on the politics and social commentary for which she is known, these new works really pack a punch!

"The Extractive Frontier: Mining for Art" Castlemaine Art Museum, Castlemaine State Festival Exhibition 2017

18th March - 26th March 2017

Penny has created a new ceramic work "Veins of Gold" responding to the exhibition theme of gold mining. Utilising her ceramics conservation skills to replicate the ancient Japanese porcelain repair technique "kintsugi", where repairs are covered in gold, thus highlighting instead of hiding the repair.

"#EuropaEuropa" Penny's first solo show in Berlin, collaborating with Michael Reid Berlin

Penny will be creating a new body of work that will become an installation, taking over the entire Michael Reid Berlin gallery. Focusing on the migrant crisis currently gripping Europe, this work will be both provocative and moving.
